Integrated Testing System for Robot Joint Modules and Reducers Delivered to Listed Company

Recently, AIP Instrument successfully delivered an integrated testing system for robot joint modules and reducers, which it customized for a listed company in China.

This system addresses the testing needs of robot joint modules and core transmission components, covering calibration and performance testing of joint modules of various specifications, and is compatible with specialized testing of harmonic reducers and planetary reducers. By integrating multiple testing functions, automated measurement and control, and data analysis capabilities, this system provides systematic testing support for the R&D verification, performance evaluation, and subsequent applications of core robot components.

AIP robot joint module and reducer integrated testing system

I. Joint Module Testing: Covering Nearly 40 Core Performance Indicators

To meet the testing needs of robot joint modules, the AIP customized testing system covers multiple dimensions such as mechanical performance, electrical performance, control performance, and signal response, and supports nearly 40 special tests.

The test items include position/torque bandwidth, positive and negative step response, torque control accuracy, servo static and dynamic stiffness, etc., which can be used for performance evaluation and calibration of joint modules of different specifications.

Core technological advantages

1. Dual-range loading to meet different torque testing needs.

It adopts a dual-range intelligent adaptation scheme of 500 N·m and 50 N·m to balance the high torque loading capacity and the measurement resolution during low torque testing, so as to meet the testing requirements of joint modules of different specifications.

2. High-precision measurement, supporting dynamic performance analysis

■ Angle measurement accuracy: 1 arcsecond

■ Torque measurement accuracy: 0.05% FS

■ Data acquisition frequency: not less than 10 kHz

The combination of high-precision measurement and high-speed data acquisition provides data support for the control performance analysis, response characteristic evaluation, and performance calibration of joint modules.

II. Harmonic and Planetary Gear Reducer Testing: Covering More Than 10 Transmission Performance Indicators

In addition to joint module testing, the system is also compatible with specialized testing of harmonic reducers and planetary reducers, enabling the evaluation of key performance of core transmission components.

The test items cover more than 10 indicators, including hysteresis curve, torsional stiffness, backlash/hysteresis, transmission efficiency, absolute positioning accuracy, and repeatability, providing a test basis for the calibration and R&D verification of reducer transmission performance.

Core technological advantages

1. Dual-range loading, compatible with various reducer specifications.

It offers a dual-range loading configuration, which can be adapted to the testing needs of different reducer specifications, taking into account both the testing range and measurement requirements.

2. Precise measurement to meet transmission performance calibration requirements.

■ Angle measurement accuracy: 1 arcsecond

■ Torque measurement accuracy: 0.1% FS

By testing key transmission performance indicators, data references are provided for the performance evaluation, accuracy analysis, and product development of reducers.

III. Platform-based testing architecture: balancing automation, data analysis, and functional expansion

To meet the testing needs of continuous iteration of robot core components, AIP adopts a modular hardware architecture and a self-developed software platform, integrating measurement and control automation, test data analysis, and subsequent function expansion into the same testing system.

1. Automated measurement and control improve the efficiency of the testing process.

The system boasts an automation rate of 95% and supports multiple communication protocols such as CANopen and EtherCAT, facilitating automated control of the testing process and integration of equipment communication.

2. Self-developed analysis software that supports test report generation.

The system is equipped with independently developed analysis software that supports one-click output of test reports, making it easy to organize test results, analyze key performance indicators, and provide data support for the design and development of joint modules.

3. Reserve expansion interfaces to accommodate future testing needs.

The system has reserved expansion interfaces for environmental chambers, vibration testing, etc., which can be upgraded according to subsequent testing needs to improve the scalability and long-term applicability of the testing platform.
